Obama's gangster joke on Edward Snowden

How many times have we seen this classic scene played out in gangster movies?

The "snitch", "traitor" or "thief" is bought before the gangster boss and is groveling at his feet, pleading for his life. The boss puts a hand on his shoulder, says don't worry, I'm not going to shoot you. The prisoner looks up smiling but while he is still saying "Thank You" the boss turns to a subordinate and says "François, shoot this cockroach!"

This is sick. This is gangster humor.

Edward Snowden certainly hasn't been pleading for his life. Actually, he is still far from being caught, but that hasn't stopped Obama from trying play a version of this classic gangster joke on "fugative-traitor" Snowden.

Very publicly, he is dismissive of the Snowden revelations, saying:
"I'm not going to be scrambling jets to get a 29-year-old hacker.”
Then, behind the scenes, he orders his gangster subordinates, namely the leaders of France, Spain and Portugal, to deny air space to a plane he thinks is carrying Snowden, a denial that carries the implied threat that if violated, they will scramble jets.

The problem for Obama now is that the joke went sour because Snowden wasn't on Morales' plane. He has been so molded!
